The roof is extremely important in a building because - besides its obvious covering function - it helps to maintain optimum conditions for wellbeing in both summer and winter. The "Abitare Evoluto" philosophy of building is the result of a precise and meticulous analysis of every detail; this video explains the structure of the ventilated roof which is the most advanced system to date in thermally-insulated roofs. The air chamber allows constant ventilation, considerably reduces heat from solar radiation and facilitates the dispersal of water vapour produced from the interior. The roof is supported by an external wall 41 cm thick, consisting of thermal-insulation bricks combined with an 8 cm fibreglass insulating panel. Protection from rain is ensured by a waterproof membrane 3 mm thick. Thermal insulation is guaranteed by the use of two panels of mineral wool 6 cm thick; these are protected by a breathable membrane which prevents the formation of water vapour, the main cause of deterioration in thermal insulation panels.
